The Lagos State Government has achieved an impressive 80 per cent cumulative performance in the implementation of its ₦3.366 trillion 2025 budget, according to the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso.
Eko Hot Blog reports that while speaking with journalists over the weekend on the state of the state, Omotoso said the budget had recorded steady progress across both revenue generation and capital projects.

“As of September, it was about 79 per cent, but it’s now over 80 per cent performance. In terms of revenue, we are also doing very well, and in capital projects, we’ve achieved about 80 per cent,” he stated.
Omotoso attributed the performance to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s inclusive development strategy, noting that every community in Lagos has benefitted from ongoing projects in infrastructure, education, and housing.
“There’s no community that hasn’t felt the positive impact of this administration. People are excited in places like Badagry, Ikorodu, and Igbogbo because development has reached them,” he said.
“We’ve built over 15 jetties across local communities, improved road networks, and expanded housing estates. Traveling from Ikorodu to Lagos Island now takes less than 30 minutes because of these initiatives.”

The commissioner also addressed concerns surrounding the recent demolition at the Trade Fair Complex, describing claims of ethnic or political targeting as “absurd and baseless.”
“It’s terrible for anyone to make such suggestions. Governor Sanwo-Olu has governed Lagos for nearly six years without any trace of discrimination. Lagosians are Lagosians, religion, colour, or race has never been a factor,” Omotoso said.
He explained that the demolitions were guided strictly by urban planning laws and a Supreme Court judgment (2003) that empowers states not the federal government to issue building permits within their jurisdictions.
“You can’t build without a permit anywhere in the world not in New York, not in Mumbai, not in Lagos. Some people put up structures without approval and turned the place into a slum. The government simply acted within the law,” he stated.
Omotoso urged residents to seek proper approvals before erecting structures and dismissed what he called “misinformation by individuals who don’t even live in Lagos.”
