EKO HOT BLOG reports that the announcement was made on Tuesday by the Leader of the Senate, Opeyemi Bamidele, through a statement issued by his Directorate of Media and Public Affairs. He described the screening as a critical step toward strengthening national security and sustaining ongoing operations against criminal groups across the country.
According to Bamidele, the Senate has already received President Tinubu’s request and will read the communication during plenary before proceeding with the screening in line with Section 147 of the 1999 Constitution.
He noted that the chamber considered the request urgent and central to the country’s stability at a time when security challenges require coordinated action between the executive and legislature.
Bamidele further stated that the screening aligns with the federal government’s broader efforts following the State of Emergency declared on national security. He said both arms of government must work closely to ensure peace and efficient governance.
Musa’s nomination followed the resignation of former Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru, who stepped down citing health concerns. President Tinubu subsequently nominated the former defence chief to fill the position.
