Siemens Has Completed The Testing Of Nigeria’s Mega Power Transformers

Nigeria’s power transformers has passed factory acceptance test by Siemens power company

 

EKO HOT BLOG reports that German power giant, Siemens has  announced that large transformers purchased by the Nigerian government to enhance electricity supply have been tested to completion.

The government team was led by Kenny Anuwe, the Managing director of the Federal Government of Nigeria Power Company (FGN-Power), to the Siemens facility in Trento, Italy, where the equipment was put through quality control tests right in front of the delegation.

 

The large transformers were bought by the current government under the ‘Presidential Power Initiative’, which is a plan that will include different stages of providing equipment to boost and stabilize the electricity supply across the country.

 

The Minister of Electricity, Engineer Abubakar D. Aliyu, said that the government of President Muhammadu Buhari is committed to solving the problem of electricity supply through the implementation of this Siemens contract, and the first step of the project is the installation of 10 mobile power substations and 10 transformers

Nigeria had on July 22, 2019, signed an Electricity Roadmap Agreement with Siemens for the generation and distribution of 11,000MW of electricity by 2023. The agreement followed a meeting President Muhammadu Buhari held with former German Chancellor Angela Merkel on August 31, 2018.

 

During the signing of the agreement, Mr Buhari recalled the efforts by previous administrations to fix the nation’s energy problem. He, however, expressed the hope that the opportunity from Germany through Siemens was a good one that could provide the needed solution.
