Governor Chukwuma Soludo has transmitted the first batch of his proposed cabinet members to the state legislature.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the list, which consists of 18 nominees assigned to various strategic portfolios, was formally received by the Speaker of the House, Somtochukwu Udeze, during the day’s plenary session.

Following the reception of the names, the Speaker immediately directed the list to the Committee on Screening and Election Matters for a thorough review and subsequent confirmation.
The nominees span a wide range of sectors, including Ben Odoemena for Agriculture, Chukwukadibia Okoye for Budget and Economic Planning, and Udoji Amedu for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism.
The education sector is slated for leadership under Ekene Ogugua, while Clem Aguiyi and Izuchukwu M. Okafor have been put forward for the Environment and Finance ministries, respectively.
Notably, the legal and land administration portfolios are assigned to Senior Advocates of Nigeria, with Tobechukwu Nweke designated as the Justice/Attorney-General and Offornze Amucheazi for Lands.
A key feature of this new list is the reappointment of several veteran officials who served during Governor Soludo’s first term.

Afam Obidike (Health), Law Mefor (Information and Value Reformation), and Patrick Agha (Youth Development and Sports) have all been invited back to continue their work in their previous roles. Other designated nominees include Vin Ezeaka for Local Government and Community Affairs, Prof. Charles Ofoegbu for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Chijioke Oseloka Ojukwu for Physical Planning and Urban Development.
The remainder of the list includes Casmir Agummadu for Power, Okey Ezeobi for Works and Infrastructure, Eddy Ibuzo for Transport, and Esther Onyekesi for Women Affairs and Social Development.
The House of Assembly is expected to begin the screening process shortly to ensure the swift formation of the state executive council.
This administrative update comes as the state continues to navigate various developmental goals under the Soludo administration, focusing on infrastructure, urban renewal, and social welfare.
