A dispute over inheritance has ended in a double tragedy in Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State, where a 25-year-old man allegedly stabbed his mother to death before he was lynched by an angry mob.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the incident involved Adamu Abdullahi, 25, who reportedly killed his mother, Hawa Sanusi, 45, during an argument over his late father’s property.

Local sources said Abdullahi had been away from home for several years and recently returned to claim his share of the inheritance. His mother was said to have kept the property in her custody, fearing that her son might squander it.
The disagreement reportedly escalated into a violent confrontation, during which Abdullahi allegedly stabbed his mother with a knife. Her screams attracted neighbours, who found her lying in a pool of blood.
As Abdullahi attempted to flee the scene, he was reportedly apprehended by a mob that had gathered and was beaten to death.
Confirming the incident, the Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said the command received a report on December 13, 2025, at about 1:30 am, that one Hawa Sanusi, 45, had been killed by her son in Suleja.

He stated that the woman was stabbed to death during a misunderstanding between her and her son.
“It was further reported that as a result of this, a mob attacked the suspect and he was lynched to death,” Abiodun said.
He added that police operatives from A Division, Suleja, moved to the scene, evacuated the corpses and recovered the knife allegedly used in the attack, while members of the mob fled.
The police spokesman said efforts were ongoing to identify and arrest those involved in the mob action.
