A woman has been confirmed dead and six others injured after a commercial bus rammed into a stationary tipper truck on Sunday at Majidun, inward Ogolonto, opposite the MRS Filling Station in Ikorodu, Lagos.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) reported that the Volkswagen commercial bus, with registration number EPE 494 XM, suffered sudden brake failure while travelling at high speed.

The vehicle, chartered to convey passengers to a programme in Ogijo, veered off course and crashed into the parked truck, which had stopped to purchase diesel.
LASTMA officials said the impact of the collision killed an adult female passenger instantly, while six others; five women and one man sustained severe injuries.
The victims were rushed to Benic Special Hospital, while the deceased was handed over to security personnel and transferred to the General Hospital, Ikorodu, for official documentation.

According to the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq, LASTMA operatives apprehended both the bus driver and the tipper truck driver, who allegedly tried to flee the scene. They were later handed over to officers at the Ipakodo Police Division for further investigation.
LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed sorrow over the accident and extended condolences to the deceased’s family.
He urged motorists to avoid excessive speeding, warning that high speed reduces the ability to respond to sudden mechanical failures or unexpected hazards. He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to promoting safe road practices across Lagos State.
