Eko Hot Blog reports that Engineer Rasheed Adebola Shabi, the member of the Lagos State House of Assembly from Lagos Mainland II, has urged traditional and political leaders in Epe, Lagos, to sustain and consolidate the progress and unity the community is known for.
He spoke at the weekend during the Grand Finale of the 2023 Epe Kayokayo Festival at the Marina Waterfront, Epe.

Shabi, the chairman of the occasion, expressed happiness that the Epe community came together to celebrate their religion and culture.
He also congratulated the Olu-Epe of the Epe Kingdom, Oba Dr. Shefiu Olatunji Adewale, the coordinator of the Epe Kayokayo festival, Otunba TJ Abass, as well as his planning committee members, on the success of the weeklong festival that included everything from prayers to education, sports, and others.
“I rejoice with the entire community. Throughout my life, I have always been a part of this community and it gives me great joy that this festival [Epe Kayokayo] is gaining international recognition, thanks to our coordinator, Otunba TJ Abass,” the lawmaker said.
He acknowledged the religious significance of the Epe Kayokayo festival, which heralds the arrival of the new Islamic year. He further mentioned the cultural aspect which commemorates the arrival of King Kosoko of Lagos in 1851 when he was in exile.
Shabi added that the social part of the Kayokayo festival involves indigenes of Epe celebrating together with food and drinks in love and unity.
The lawmaker stated that the 2023 edition of the festival showed how far the event has come, while expressing hope that the festival will enjoy even more progress in the years to come
He further hailed Oba Adewale for his reliable leadership which has led to development and peace in Epe.

Such personalities include Tunji Alausa, who President Bola Tinubu recently nominated as minister, and Professor Oladipupo Basirat who Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, appointed as the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH).
