Consequently, this move aims to ensure seamless waste disposal operations across the state during this period.
“Our primary objective in rehabilitating Olusosun dumpsite is to ensure that waste disposal trucks can navigate through the dumpsite seamlessly, even in adverse weather conditions,” said Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, LAWMA’s Managing Director/CEO.
Additionally, he emphasized the agency’s focus on enhancing operational efficiency to improve turnaround times for waste disposal trucks.
Furthermore, Gbadegesin stressed the importance of responsible waste disposal practices among residents to safeguard the environment.
“Our commitment to environmental sustainability extends beyond operational enhancements,” he stated, urging residents to prioritize proper waste disposal.
Notably, LAWMA highlighted the risks associated with dumping waste in drains during the rainy season, which can disrupt the drainage system and pose environmental hazards. Therefore, the agency encouraged residents to patronize accredited Private Sector Participation (PSP) operators for their waste disposal needs.
In addition to utilizing licensed operators, Gbadegesin emphasized the importance of residents familiarizing themselves with their designated PSPs, who play a crucial role in waste management at the local level.
