Taibat Garbadeen Foodbank Foundation Holds 6th Annual Ramadan Lecture and Iftar, Reaffirms Commitment To Charity, Community Development

The Taibat Garbadeen Foodbank Foundation on Saturday, March 22, 2025, held its 6th annual Ramadan lecture and iftar session at Epe Ogunmodede Club, No 21 Obafemi Awolowo Way, Isale Agoro, Epe, Lagos State.

Ekohotblog reports that the event brought together religious scholars, dignitaries, and members of the Epe community in a shared atmosphere of reflection, charity, and spiritual renewal during the holy month of Ramadan.

Guest lecturer, Ustadh Miftahudeen Ismail Akorede (Simple), emphasized the need to rebuild the nation by beginning with personal transformation at the family level. He noted that, “If we want to see a better nation, the process must begin from our homes.

Charity begins at home. When we build morally upright families, we are laying the foundation for a stronger and better society.” He further encouraged individuals to embrace charity as a way of life, not just during Ramadan but all year round.

The chairman of the day, Professor Basirat Oladipupo-Folarin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), praised the foundation for sustaining a culture of giving and urged more individuals and organizations to emulate such acts of service.

She described the foundation’s consistency as “a noble gesture that reflects the true essence of Ramadan — compassion, giving, and community support.”

Hon. Garbadeen Olabode, speaking on the motivation behind the foundation, explained that it was inspired by their late mother’s unwavering dedication to helping others. “Our mother had a tradition of giving to both the young and old every week.

It was something she took pride in. Now that she is no longer with us, we believe it is our responsibility to keep her legacy alive. Through this foundation, we have continued to support people with food items and other essentials, especially during Ramadan,” he said.

Also speaking, Alhaja Kemi Garbadeen disclosed that the foundation is planning to expand its activities beyond food distribution.

She said, “We are looking at the needs of the community and planning to embark on projects that will benefit more people in a sustainable way. It’s about going beyond temporary relief and making long-term impact.”
