Speaking to Journalist on Sunday, Liu also encouraged the Federal Government to sign the Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement, which has been under discussion between Taiwan and Nigeria.

The agreement is designed to protect investors from both countries and create favorable conditions for investments.

Liu said, “Taiwan welcomes the Nigerian Federal Government’s approach to renew the bilateral Agreement for Investment Protection and Promotion, and we are ready to sign for renewal, together with our counterpart Nigerian mission in Taiwan. This renewal signing will greatly encourage investors interested in visiting and investing in Nigeria.”

He noted Taiwan’s capability to develop industries crucial to Nigeria’s economy.

“Nigeria has natural resources, Taiwan doesn’t have any, but has the technical know-how to develop those natural resources for the socioeconomic development of both countries.

“Taiwan would help Nigeria in developing its agriculture, natural minerals, and energy industries. Taiwan has done it with Australia for about 20 years now,” he added.

He also recalled Tinubu’s campaign promise, where he vowed to make South East the Taiwan of Africa, adding that his country was ready to bring this to fruition.

Liu said, “While campaigning somewhere before the 2023 elections, President Tinubu declared that he would make South-East Nigeria the Taiwan of Africa. We are ready to offer assistance to fulfil this and other agenda of the president.

“Taiwan can be more than a valuable partner for both Nigeria and Africa, because Taiwan plays a significant role in the global economy, democracy, science & technology, social development, and serves as a true model of “Non-Oil Economy” .

We, therefore urge the Nigerian Federal or State Governments to take up trend of collaborating with Taiwan to upgrade and deepen our bi-lateral relations shortly.”
