Fresh allegations and conflicting accounts surrounding the final days of Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba have raised concerns over the circumstances of her death.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Osoba died on August 5, 2026, at the age of 40. However, questions about her death intensified after her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, disputed reports that she died from poisoning or complications related to breast cancer.

The controversy deepened on August 12 after the Osoba and Awonuga families indefinitely postponed her burial, which had been scheduled for the following day.
The families said the postponement was necessary to allow for further arrangements and the resolution of pending issues. A new burial date is expected to be announced.
Onadeko had earlier claimed that he received a midnight call informing him that Osoba had died at a police station in Ikorodu.
He also denied allegations that he diverted funds raised for the actress’ cancer treatment, while alleging that Osoba struggled with drug addiction.
However, the actress’ family has given a different account of what happened before her death.
According to the family, Osoba reconnected with her paternal aunt, Kehinde-Osoba Eritosin, in May 2025 and later confided in her about personal and relationship difficulties.
The family alleged that Osoba repeatedly contacted her aunt for assistance in the days before her death, including seeking her intervention in her relationship with Onadeko.
The family said Osoba’s condition deteriorated on August 4 after a friend and hairdresser reported that she had not slept, was behaving strangely and making disturbing comments about death.
She was subsequently taken to Igbogbo Police Station in Ikorodu after allegedly causing a disturbance in traffic.
The family claimed that the police later released her to a friend and two maternal sisters after her aunt, who was away at the time, requested that she be taken to her church for care.
According to the family, she was instead taken to another church for prayers before her maternal relatives decided to take her to Sagamu.
The family said her condition worsened during the journey, forcing them to stop at a private hospital before she was referred to the Ogun State University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu.
However, the family alleged that Osoba died inside the vehicle before she could receive medical attention.
The differing accounts have raised questions about what happened between the actress’ appearance at the police station in Ikorodu and her eventual death in Sagamu.
The controversy has also attracted allegations from actress Basira Badia, who claimed that Osoba was badly treated before her death. Badia said she had evidence to support her allegations and would release it after the burial.
The claims have not been independently verified.
Meanwhile, concerns have emerged within Nollywood over the level of support Osoba received during her final days and following her death.
Toyosi Adesanya, National Director of Social and Welfare of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria, alleged that some colleagues initially declined to contribute towards Osoba’s burial because they claimed she was not a member of the association.
The Celestial Church of Christ has also commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the actress’ death.
The church, through its Head of Media and Publicity Worldwide, Kayode Ajala, said it had begun a discreet investigation following allegations involving Onadeko, who is a shepherd in the church.
The church also rejected claims that its doctrine permits practices involving black magic, cultism or charms.
With Osoba’s burial postponed indefinitely and competing accounts continuing to emerge, questions remain over what happened during the actress’ final hours.
The ongoing church investigation, alongside any further evidence that may emerge from the family and other parties, could help clarify the events surrounding Osoba’s death.
