Although details of the discussions were not immediately disclosed, political observers believe the meeting is part of ongoing high-level consultations between President Tinubu and influential political figures ahead of key national decisions.
Dada Olusegun, Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, confirmed the meeting in a post on his verified X handle. He also shared a photo of the visit, stating:

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu receives in audience, class of 1999 governors led by H.E James Ibori, former Governor of Delta State, at the State House.”
The class of 1999 governors holds a symbolic place in Nigeria’s democratic history, having been the first set of governors elected after the return to civilian rule in May 1999. Many members of the group have since remained active in national politics, influencing policy directions and political alliances over the past two decades.
Friday’s gathering is the latest in a string of meetings convened by the President to consolidate support across political lines as his administration prepares for major reforms and national agenda-setting.
Further details are expected to be made available in the coming days.
