In a statement issued by Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, the Chief of Staff emphasized that the recently signed Tax Reform Acts, enacted in June, underscore the urgency of advancing financial and trade reforms aligned with the administration’s target of building a $1 trillion economy.
Gbajabiamila highlighted the importance of the National Single Window project, calling it one of the President’s key transformative initiatives that must be implemented effectively and on schedule.
“It is important that we remain focused on this project so that we meet our timelines and deliver the results Mr. President expects,” he said.
He explained that the NSW would function as a centralized electronic platform aimed at simplifying Nigeria’s import and export procedures, increasing transparency, boosting trade and investment revenue, and strengthening the country’s global business reputation.
He called on all participating agencies to sharpen their targets and key performance indicators to ensure the successful rollout of Phase 1 within the scheduled timeframe.
“I do expect that since the last meeting of the steering committee held on April 8, 2025, all stakeholders have actively progressed with the required KPIs and set targets to ensure we go live with Phase 1 in Q1 2026, as scheduled,” Gbajabiamila said.
Also speaking, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, described the progress as promising but stressed the importance of speeding up the implementation process.
“We must now move from strategy to action. This project is complex but transformational. Let’s remove all remaining roadblocks,” Edun said.
The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole, also called on the committee to step up its efforts and ensure the first quarter 2026 deadline is met without exception.
The Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zacch Adedeji, expressed gratitude to the President for his ongoing support and noted that the project now has legal backing.

“Thank you, Mr. President, for your unwavering support. With the Single Window now enshrined in law, the work ahead is clear, and the reward for hard work is indeed more work,” Adedeji said, urging committee members to remain focused.
Giving a progress update, the Director of the National Single Window Project, Tola Fakolade, reported that all major milestones set for the second quarter of 2025 had been successfully completed, and the customization of the platform is currently in progress.
“We remain confident in our ability to meet the rollout timelines,” he assured.
Launched in April 2024, the NSW project is a Federal Government digital trade initiative designed to establish a centralized electronic platform for importers and exporters.
Its goal is to bring all trade-related agencies onto a single portal to lower costs, minimize delays, and improve efficiency and transparency at Nigeria’s ports.
The NSW Steering Committee is composed of representatives from the Ministries of Finance and Trade and Investment, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), and the Nigeria Customs Service.
