Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has reaffirmed the federal government’s determination to tackle the country’s security challenges, saying President Bola Tinubu has remained firm, proactive, and fully committed to strengthening security institutions both within Nigeria and across Africa.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Shettima gave the assurances on Tuesday while receiving the faculty and participants of the Executive Intelligence Management Course (EIMC) 18 of the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The delegation, led by NISS Commandant Joseph Odama, was at the Villa to present the executive brief of their end-of-course report.
The Vice President commended the diversity of the 78 participants drawn from the military, paramilitary, law enforcement agencies, and key government institutions within and outside Nigeria, describing it as a reflection of Africa’s collective responsibility in addressing security challenges.
He noted that President Tinubu “is working round the clock” to strengthen national security and urged all stakeholders to collaborate in ensuring peace and stability.

A key highlight of the visit was the presentation of a report titled: “Non-state Actors in Security Management in Africa: Issues, Challenges and Prospects for Peace and Development.” According to Shettima’s spokesperson, Stanley Nkwoccha, the report recommended harmonising community-based security efforts into a formal legal framework to enhance peace-building and conflict resolution across Africa.
Earlier, Commandant Joseph Odama explained that the EIMC 18 programme, which commenced on February 19, 2025, was a ten-month intensive course designed to strengthen strategic thinking and leadership among senior security professionals. With the graduation of this cohort, NISS has now produced 1,130 high-level security leaders equipped to handle evolving security and development threats on the continent.
Odama also applauded President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima for their leadership, noting that the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda is already yielding positive results across Nigeria.
