Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, a prominent political figure and former spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), has reportedly resigned from his position as Special Adviser on Political Matters in the Office of Vice President Kashim Shettima, Eko Hot Blog reports.
Sources within the presidency confirmed that Baba-Ahmed tendered his resignation about two weeks ago, citing personal reasons.

Baba-Ahmed was appointed in September 2023 as part of President Tinubu’s efforts to assemble a team of skilled and experienced advisers who can contribute to the Federal Government’s agenda.
As of the time of this report, it remains unclear whether the presidency has accepted his resignation.
The move had raised questions about the stability and direction of the administration at this critical juncture.
Throughout his 17-month tenure as Special Adviser on Political Issues, Baba-Ahmed actively represented the presidency at numerous public gatherings, most recently at a national conference in Abuja.
