The APC made this call in a statement issued in reaction to the ongoing political crisis following the swearing-in of Siminalayi Fubara as Governor of Rivers State.
“Rivers State is at war. The dramatis personae responsible for the mayhem that has claimed lives are known. The Governor is helpless, and the police are helpless. Therefore, the APC in Rivers State is calling for a state of emergency in Rivers State as a way of taming the mayhem and the upsurge that is going on in the state. The statement partly reads.
‘Arrest Kwankwaso,’ APC Group Demands
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has called for the arrest of Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP).
Recall that Kwankwaso recently accused the Federal Government of breeding new Boko Haram insurgents in Kano.
In a statement on Tuesday, Kano State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, said, “Nigeria Security owes an urgent responsibility of not only arresting Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso who is behind the allegations but they must make him mention those who are sponsoring the insecurity in the State.”
Fubara Swears In Caretaker Chairmen for 23 Local Governments
Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has on Wednesday sworn in new caretaker chairmen for the state’s 23 local government areas on Wednesday.
The inauguration took place at the Government House in Port Harcourt amid tight security.
This development followed the screening of the Caretaker committee chairmen, and members by the Rivers State House of Assembly led by Rt. Hon. Victor Oko Jumbo.
Nnamdi Kanu Announces Major Shift, Seeks Negotiations With FG
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has indicated his willingness to engage in negotiations with the Federal Government through his lead counsel, Alloy Ejimakor.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that this move is pursuant to Section 17 of the Federal High Court Act, which encourages amicable settlement and reconciliation among parties.
Nnamdi Kanu has been in DSS custody since June 2021, facing terrorism-related charges levelled against him by the Federal Government.
