The details of the successful counter-terror operation were officially made public in a statement released on Friday by the Acting Military Information Officer for Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni.
According to the operational brief, the tactical encounter occurred on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, when vigilant military monitoring personnel stationed at the Dutse Kura observational stronghold detected suspicious insurgent movements.
The terrorists had aggressively blocked the highway and were systematically pulling commuters out of their vehicles when they were captured on high-definition military surveillance cameras, triggering an immediate combat response from the sector command.
Upon receiving the real-time intelligence feed, a heavily armed Quick Reaction Force (QRF) was instantly scrambled from a nearby forward operating base to intercept the criminals.
The elite team rapidly mobilized to the exact coordinates, forcing a high-speed pursuit as the fleeing insurgents attempted to drag their captives toward the dense foliage of the Mangari–Dora general area.
Upon catching up with the convoy, the Special Forces troops engaged the ISWAP fighters in a fierce, high-caliber gunbattle, utilizing superior firepower to break the enemy lines and forcing the heavily outgunned terrorists to abandon their human shields and scatter deep into the surrounding wilderness in total disarray.
In addition to securing the freedom of the 53 traumatized hostages, the victorious troops successfully recovered eight civilian vehicles that the insurgents had already seized and intended to repurpose for tactical logistical movements.
Following the immediate firefight, the combat units advanced further into the bush to clear the insurgents’ known withdrawal routes, completely dominating the local geography to prevent any potential regrouping.

While no further contact was recorded with the wounded remnants of the fleeing terror cell during the subsequent sweep, heavy combat patrols have been maintained to keep the critical economic highway permanently secure.
The military command confirmed that all 53 rescued victims, alongside the recovered vehicles and associated personal properties, were safely evacuated to a secure military holding facility in Buratai.
The rescued civilians are currently undergoing extensive profiling, documentation, and comprehensive medical evaluations by military doctors to address physical exhaustion and psychological trauma before being officially reunited with their anxious families.
This successful clearance operation underscores the increasing efficacy of integrating modern technological surveillance with rapid-response infantry tactics to protect vulnerable commuter routes across the theater of operations.
