EKO HOT BLOG reports that speaking during an interview on Arise News, Hayab clarified that Trump’s remarks about the alleged killing of Christians in Nigeria had been misinterpreted. He explained that the former U.S. President only called for stronger action against terrorists responsible for attacks on Christians, not an invasion of the country.
“Listening to what Trump said, he never said he was coming to fight Nigeria. There’s a twisting of all these things. Trump simply said, ‘Go after these terrorists; if you don’t go after them, we can come and go after them.’ So, who is afraid of Trump coming to Nigeria?” Hayab said.
The cleric stressed that acknowledging the reality of the attacks on Christians is the first step toward national reconciliation and healing. He urged Nigerian leaders to stop dismissing the pains of victims and instead engage in sincere dialogue to address the crisis.
“You can’t tell someone who is a victim, who is in pain, that his cries are not true. Let’s admit that people came and killed Christians, and they came in the name of religion,” Hayab stated.
He maintained that the perpetrators were religious extremists, not the Muslim community at large, and called for empathy and understanding to rebuild trust among citizens.
Responding to those who claim Trump’s comments reflect a hidden American agenda, Hayab argued that the Nigerian government should first show genuine concern for its citizens.

“Before you tell me about Trump’s agenda, have you shown concern when I was burying people in large numbers? If you fail to act and Trump says he’s coming, let him come — at least it will show you’re not the only one watching,” he said.
