Trump revealed that he had already identified the programs to be shut down. He said the shutdown presented a chance to restructure government operations and remove unnecessary programs.
“We have a lot of things we are going to eliminate and permanently eliminate,” he said. “The Democrats handed me this opportunity on a silver platter.”

He added that if the shutdown continued, many of the affected jobs would never return. “It will be substantial, and a lot of those jobs will never come back,” Trump said.
When asked about his message to Democrats ahead of another short-term spending bill vote, Trump accused them of self-destructive behavior.
“This is like a kamikaze attack,” he said. “They are the ones who started it, and it is almost like a kamikaze attack by them. They have nothing to lose.”
Trump’s remarks signal growing tensions between Republicans and Democrats as both sides continue to clash over government funding and budget priorities.
