However, after a VAR review, the goal was disallowed as Alvarez was ruled to have made two contacts with the ball.

But Marcos Llorente’s miss off the crossbar proved costly, and Antonio Rudiger calmly slotted home the decisive spot-kick, sealing Real’s 4-2 shootout victory.
