According to Adejobi’s statement, police operatives managed to free Mrs. Odumosu and recover the ransom money that had been used as bait in the abduction. However, further details of the operation were not disclosed.

The statement also confirmed that the kidnappers were “neutralized” during the operation.

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, praised the efforts of the operatives involved in the successful rescue and commended the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Lanre Ogunlowo, for his leadership and the timely resolution of the case.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to safeguarding Nigerian citizens and our dear country,” Adejobi added in the statement.

Mrs. Odumosu, the wife of the retired AIG, was abducted by armed kidnappers in the Arepo area of Ogun State last Thursday.

Reports indicate that four hooded and heavily armed men carried out the abduction.

The kidnappers intercepted Mrs. Odumosu’s Lexus SUV as she approached her residence around 9:55 PM. They forcibly stopped the vehicle, dragged her out, and took her away through a swampy area to an undisclosed location.

The kidnapping of Mrs. Odumosu sent shockwaves through the community, as it targeted the family of a high-ranking former police officer.
