EKO HOT BLOG reports that while receiving the victorious team at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Monday, July 28, Tinubu admitted that the tension during the final made him fear for his health. He said he contemplated avoiding the match entirely because he didn’t want to risk high blood pressure.
Nigeria’s Super Falcons pulled off an extraordinary comeback to defeat Morocco 3-2 after trailing 2-0 at halftime. Their performance sparked a wave of national celebration and highlighted their resilience on the continental stage. The win secured Nigeria’s 10th WAFCON title.
Tinubu commended the Falcons’ bravery, saying their second-half display represented the true spirit of Nigeria—undaunted, focused, and triumphant. He praised the team’s ability to overturn the game against the odds, calling it an inspirational moment for the country.
Beyond their sporting achievement, the President also lauded the team for their humanitarian gesture, particularly their visit to South African player Gabriela Salgado, who was injured during the tournament. He said their compassion showed African unity and womanly solidarity.
He described the team’s actions as going beyond football, showcasing sportsmanship, empathy, and the deeper values that unite Africa.

The President’s comments came as part of an official reception honouring the team’s heroics and solidifying their place in Nigerian sports history.
