- Wike challenged critics to disprove his road project claims within 48 hours
- He said he would resign if his statements were proven false
- The minister said 221 kilometres of roads have been completed in Abuja’s satellite towns
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has challenged anyone questioning his administration’s record on road construction in Abuja’s satellite towns to publicly disprove his claims within 48 hours, vowing to step down as minister if proven wrong.
Wike made the declaration on Friday during the inauguration of the reconstructed Arab/Gbazango Road in Kubwa, where he highlighted what he described as the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s infrastructure achievements under President Bola Tinubu.

According to the minister, the administration has awarded contracts for 317 kilometres of roads across satellite communities since President Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023. He said 221 kilometres have already been completed, while work is ongoing on the remaining 96 kilometres.

He clarified that the figures relate only to satellite towns and do not include road projects being executed in other parts of the FCT.
“As of today, 317 kilometres of roads have been awarded in the satellite towns. We have completed 221 kilometres, while 96 kilometres are still under construction,” Wike said.
The minister also assured residents that two major road projects—the Apo-Karshi Road and the Bwari-Kubwa Road—would be completed before the end of the year.
He maintained that the projects had significantly improved infrastructure in communities outside Abuja’s city centre, saying residents of satellite towns were now experiencing the impact of government investment.
Wike insisted that the achievements were unprecedented, arguing that no previous administration had delivered a similar scale of development in the satellite areas.
Throwing down the gauntlet to his critics, the minister said anyone disputing the figures should appear on national television within 48 hours with evidence proving his claims false.

“If anyone can prove that we did not award 317 kilometres of roads or complete 221 kilometres in the satellite towns since this administration began, I will resign as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory,” he declared.
Reiterating the challenge, Wike said it did not matter whether the individual belonged to a political group, civil society organisation or any association, stressing that he was ready to leave office if his statements were found to be inaccurate.
He credited the rapid pace of infrastructure development in the FCT to the support of President Tinubu and the cooperation of the National Assembly.
Wike expressed appreciation for the backing his administration had received, assuring the President that the FCT Administration would continue implementing projects aimed at improving infrastructure and living conditions across the territory.
