FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has challenged Senator Ireti Kingibe to prove her worth beyond speaking style.
During the flag-off of the Northern Parkway road from Ring Road II to Ring Road III in Abuja, Wike took a swipe at Senator Kingibe, warning FCT residents against voting for people who only look good in speeches. He said that talking “grammar” in the National Assembly means little if there is no real benefit back home for Abuja people.

Wike urged voters to consider who would answer their calls day or night, who is truly available to help solve their issues, and not just someone who sounds good. He emphasized that in the coming period, performance will be measured by what has been achieved, not by polished speech or appearances.
He also cautioned against choosing leaders based on gender because someone is a woman, or someone is a man but rather on capability and delivery. “Vote for somebody who will deliver,” he said, stressing that impact matters more than rhetoric.
According to Wike, there must come a time when leaders show their report cards. He urged that Senator Kingibe explain what her contributions are in lawmaking, how her actions have benefited Abuja residents, and what concrete gains people have seen.
He described how voters often get swayed by image and smooth talk, rather than what their elected representatives have physically accomplished. He asked: What laws has she sponsored that have changed Abuja? What infrastructure? What quality of life improvements?
Wike’s remarks set up a direct confrontation ahead of future elections, framing the debate around substance over style. For many in Abuja, this could be a call to look beyond personalities to where promises translate into real results.
