- Haaland scored twice as Norway defeated Brazil 2-1
- Schjelderup provided two assists in the World Cup victory
- Norway advanced to the quarter-finals after a resilient display
Erling Haaland produced a match-winning display with two second-half goals as Norway stunned Brazil 2-1 on Sunday to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Brazil controlled much of the first half and created several promising opportunities but failed to convert their dominance into goals.
Their biggest chance came in the 14th minute after a VAR review awarded a penalty, only for Bruno Guimarães to see his effort brilliantly saved by Norwegian goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland.
Vinícius Júnior, Gabriel Martinelli and Rayan all threatened the Norwegian defence before the interval, while Martin Ødegaard and Haaland also tested Brazil goalkeeper Alisson as both teams went into the break level.

Norway returned for the second half with greater intensity, and substitute Andreas Schjelderup quickly made an impact by adding pace and creativity to the attack.
Brazil attempted to regain control by introducing Neymar and Endrick, but Norway found the breakthrough with just over 10 minutes remaining.
Schjelderup delivered an accurate cross into the penalty area, where Haaland rose highest to head the ball past Alisson and hand Norway the lead.
Brazil pushed forward in search of an equaliser, with Casemiro going close and Neymar leading several attacks, but Norway’s defence remained organised under sustained pressure.

Haaland doubled the advantage in the 90th minute after Schjelderup slipped a perfectly timed pass into his path. The Manchester City striker kept his composure and slotted the ball beyond Alisson to complete his brace.
Brazil pulled one goal back deep into stoppage time when referee Ismail Elfath awarded a second penalty after Leo Østigård was ruled to have fouled Neymar inside the box.
Neymar converted the spot kick in the 100th minute to give Brazil hope, but there was not enough time left to mount a comeback before the final whistle.
Haaland’s two goals, Schjelderup’s pair of assists and Nyland’s crucial first-half penalty save proved decisive as Norway completed one of the tournament’s biggest surprises.
Brazil, meanwhile, exited the competition after failing to capitalise on several scoring opportunities, with Guimarães’ missed penalty and other wasted chances ultimately proving costly.
