Young Man Publicly Disgraced in Iraye for Stealing Bluetooth Player

A young man, popularly known as Sanawole, was publicly beaten and disgraced in Iraye after allegedly stealing a Bluetooth player and selling it immediately.
Ekohotblog reports that according to the owner of the portable player, who preferred to remain anonymous, he was playing music on the device when he suddenly felt pressed and rushed to the toilet.

“I didn’t even spend up to five minutes,” he explained. “By the time I came back, my Bluetooth player was gone. I later found out that Sanawole had taken it and sold it off.”
In an attempt to recover the stolen item, community members forced Sanawole to the house of the person he allegedly sold the player to.
Upon arrival, the buyer confirmed purchasing the device from him, further affirming the allegations. The Bluetooth player was then returned to its rightful owner.
Following the recovery, the community members paraded Sanawole publicly, creating awareness of his actions.
An eyewitness, Mrs. Funke, said, “They wanted everyone to know what he did so that he won’t try it again. It’s not the first time he’s stealing from people.”

Mr. Tunde , another resident, added, “We’ve warned him several times, but he keeps stealing. Hopefully, this public disgrace will make him change.”
After publicly exposing his act, the community members let him go. A community elder, commented, “We didn’t involve the police because we believe in correcting our own. We just wanted him to learn his lesson.”
