According to reports, Uche forced himself on the girl while wielding a cutlass. The girl’s mother, Mrs. Sharon Jonathan, stated that her daughter had left their home on August 25, 2025, to visit her aunt at a nearby location and returned the next day, August 26, 2025
Following the alleged assault, the young girl experienced mental distress and is currently receiving treatment at Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) in Idi-Araba, Surulere, Lagos.

Her mother, Mrs. Sharon Jonathan, recounted the events leading to her daughter’s hospitalization: “She visited her sister because I was not around and returned home the next day, unusually quiet. I took her to the hospital, where tests showed she had 1+ malaria and 1+ typhoid.
However, the doctor suggested these results did not fully explain her behavior and recommended watching an uplifting movie to improve her mood.”
It was during this time that the girl revealed to her mother that “Uncle Uche” had tortured and s3xually assaulted her. Distraught, Mrs. Jonathan sought the guidance of a pastor, who advised her to seek further medical evaluation to determine if the assault involved penetration.
Despite difficulties in getting her daughter evaluated at the initial hospital, they were referred to LUTH for specialized care.
“The doctor confirmed penetration, and Uche was arrested by the Tolu Police Post, Apapa, with the case transferred to the Gender Unit of the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja.
“The life of my child is still hanging in the balance; I don’t want the case buried through the backdoor.”
Responding to the matter, the acting Police Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Police Command, Babaseyi Oluseyi, said, “The case was transferred to the Gender unit on September 4, 2025, and the suspect is in custody while the investigation is ongoing. Kindly note that the OC Gender is not a person to be compromised.”
Speaking with The Guardian, the Officer Commanding (OC) Gender, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Toyin Kazeem, said, “The suspect is in custody, investigation is ongoing, and he will be charged in court appropriately. Lagosians will be assured of justice and transparency.”
