The Anambra State Police Command has rescued a 15-year-old pregnant girl and arrested a suspect identified as Tochukwu Nwora for alleged child exploitation and s3xual abuse.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the rescue operation was conducted on June 17 by operatives from the Achalla Divisional Police Headquarters around St Paul’s Secondary School in Achalla, Awka North Local Government Area, based on credible intelligence.

State Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the development in a statement, said preliminary investigations revealed that the teenager had allegedly been subjected to repeated s3xual abuse by several adult males in Nando (Anambra East LGA), Nteje (Oyi LGA), and Achalla (Awka North LGA).
Ikenga noted that some of the suspects allegedly took advantage of the vulnerable girl by offering her small sums of money. The case is also linked to activities of youths involved in the use of crystal methamphetamine, locally known as “Mkpuru Mmiri.”

The victim has been placed in protective custody and taken to the Police Hospital in Awka for medical evaluation and care. The arrested suspect is currently assisting investigators with useful information.
The Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough probe. Investigators will also examine possible negligence or complicity by any parent or guardian.
Efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the alleged abuse.
The command assured residents of continuous updates as the investigation progresses and urged the public to provide useful information to help bring perpetrators to justice.
