The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has ridiculed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing its remaining members as “undertakers waiting to bury a dying party.”
In a statement released on Saturday, the APC Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, reacted to the recent wave of defections from the PDP, saying the opposition’s attempt to downplay its collapse reflects “denial and self-deception.”

“The PDP’s claim that defections cannot weaken it is laughable,” Oladejo stated. “What we are witnessing is not ordinary political migration but the result of years of deceit, lack of ideology, and betrayal among its leaders. When a house is built on quicksand, it only takes a tremor to bring it down.”
EKO HOT BLOG reports that he noted that the mass defections to the ruling party were evidence that even PDP loyalists had lost confidence in an opposition that had failed to reform or present a credible alternative to Nigerians.
According to Oladejo, “Those still clinging to the PDP are merely undertakers, staying behind to perform the final rites of a once-dominant but now lifeless political entity.”
He said the APC was not surprised by the collapse, adding that the PDP had relied for years on propaganda and false promises. Oladejo accused the party of mismanaging Nigeria during its 16 years in power and lacking the credibility to rebuild itself as an opposition force.
He further claimed that the steady defection of top PDP figures to the APC showed growing faith in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Oladejo urged the PDP to “accept reality and conduct an honest post-mortem of its failures,” insisting its relevance in Nigeria’s political space has faded beyond recovery.
