The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government and Chairman of Chairmen, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, on Friday received officials from UNICEF led by Mr. Ibrahim Sesay, Chief of Child Protection, and Mr. Denis Onoise, Child Protection Specialist.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the visit focused on strengthening collaboration toward achieving the 2025 Under-1 Birth Registration targets across Lagos State.
UNICEF officials presented a comprehensive breakdown of local government targets to promote data-driven monitoring and expand registration coverage for children under one year.

Speaking on behalf of all 57 Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos, Hon. Olowa commended UNICEF for its consistent partnership and technical support.
He said, “We appreciate UNICEF’s steadfast collaboration in this important exercise, and we remain committed to ensuring that every child under one year in Lagos is duly registered and recognized.”
Olowa emphasized that birth registration plays a vital role in safeguarding children’s rights and improving access to essential services.
“Early birth registration is fundamental to protecting the identity and future of every child. It opens doors to healthcare, education, and social benefits that define their quality of life,” he stated.
