EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement issued on Monday, the party’s spokesperson, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, described the protests as “a dangerous display of reckless politics,” claiming they were motivated by “political frustration rather than justice.”
“This so-called protest is not about justice; it is about political frustration,” Oladejo stated. “It represents the height of bitter, destructive politics by those who were rejected by Nigerians at the polls, now seeking cheap relevance by exploiting national issues.”
He likened the protests to “a Biblical act of deception,” alleging that opposition figures were hiding behind activism to manipulate the public. “Their involvement reveals a classic case of the Biblical hand of Jacob but the voice of Esau, deceitful manipulation disguised as activism,” he added.
Oladejo condemned the protests as insensitive, especially to the plight of South-East residents who have suffered years of violence, sit-at-home orders, and economic hardship. He said the organisers had “chosen to mock the memories of victims, ignoring the pain of widows and the devastation of communities ruined by senseless violence.”
He accused those behind the agitation of being political opportunists “fanning the embers of division” instead of helping rebuild their region. “Rather than heal the wounds of the South-East, they are profiting from instability,” he said.
The Lagos APC reiterated that Nnamdi Kanu’s case remains before a competent court, warning that street protests cannot override the judicial process. “No one is above the law. Nigeria’s judiciary is independent and capable of delivering justice without street intimidation,” the party declared.
Oladejo praised President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, saying it has fostered inclusivity and infrastructural growth, particularly in the South-East. He urged citizens to reject “bitter politics” and security agencies to remain vigilant.
