In a proactive effort to promote self-reliance and economic empowerment among residents, the Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area, under the leadership of its Executive Chairman,
Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, on Monday, 20th October, held a sensitization exercise ahead of the official commencement of its One-Month Intensive Skill Acquisition Programme for youths across the LCDA.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the sensitization programme, which took place at the council secretariat, was designed to prepare participants for the training and emphasize the value of skill development in tackling unemployment and poverty.

Representing the Executive Chairman at the event, the Vice Chairman, Alhaji Wasiu Dehinsilu, commended participants for seizing the opportunity and encouraged them to view the training as an investment in their future.
“This programme is not just about learning a trade; it is about building a foundation for your financial independence and lifelong success,” he said.
Also speaking, the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Hassan Mustapha, charged participants to remain focused throughout the training and serve as good ambassadors of the council in their respective communities.
The sensitization event was graced by key council officials, including the Chief of Staff, Hon. Jayesimi Ibraheem; the Head of the Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) Department,
Mrs. Somoye; members of management staff; and the programme facilitators, who assured participants of their readiness to deliver high-quality and practical training sessions.

Participants expressed gratitude to the Executive Chairman for initiating what they described as a life-changing opportunity that would enhance their socio-economic well-being.
They pledged to make good use of the training to uplift themselves and their communities.
For convenience and effective learning, trainees from the Ejinrin District will undergo their sessions at Ketu-Ereyun Community Town Hall, while those from the Ikosi District will train at the Council Secretariat Multipurpose Hall.

The training, themed “Empowering Minds, Building Sustainable Livelihoods,” will focus on various vocational skills such as Hairdressing, Fashion Design, Catering, Makeover & Gele Tying, Barbing, and Soap Making.
The initiative underscores Chairman Anomo’s continued dedication to youth empowerment, women development, and grassroots capacity building, a vision that has become a defining hallmark of his administration in Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.
