The Naira continued to face pressure against the United States Dollar in both the official and parallel markets on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that at the black market (Aboki FX), currency traders in Lagos quoted the dollar at ₦1,480 to buy and ₦1,500 to sell, showing a steady trend compared to the previous day’s rate. Operators in the parallel market said demand for foreign exchange remains high as importers and travelers continue to seek dollars outside official channels.
Meanwhile, at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) window, the official rate traded between ₦1,462 and ₦1,466 per dollar, according to data available on Tuesday evening.

Traders said the widening gap between official and unofficial rates has persisted despite efforts by monetary authorities to stabilize the market through interventions and foreign exchange reforms.

The Central Bank has maintained that it does not recognize the black market, urging individuals and businesses to conduct forex transactions through licensed financial institutions.
