A Lagos court has sentenced Emmanuel Lakehinde, a press worker, to life imprisonment for abusing a minor and causing her defilement.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Lakehinde was convicted by Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Special Offences and Domestic Court in Ikeja, who delivered the life sentence after finding him guilty of the crime.

According to the prosecution led by Babajide Boye, Lakehinde and others who are still at large, including Sesan Oluwole who jumped bail, assaulted the eleven year old girl on December twelve twenty thirteen at Sanusi Street in Shomolu. The offences violate Sections 137 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State twenty fifteen.
The prosecution presented three witnesses including the survivor, her grandfather and a medical professional. Their testimonies were admitted by the court along with other evidence.
In his judgement, Justice Oshodi ruled that the prosecution had proved the case beyond reasonable doubt. He stressed the seriousness of the crime, stating that the abuse of children is among the most severe violations under the law.
The judge noted that the girl was only eleven years old at the time of the assault and that her family rightly rejected any plea bargain, as the trauma inflicted on her is irreversible.
Justice Oshodi sentenced Lakehinde to life imprisonment for defilement and an additional ten years for conspiracy. He also ordered that Lakehinde’s name be entered into the Sex Offenders Register in line with Sections 33 and 38 of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency Law 2021
