Several people were feared dead on Friday night after a gas explosion rocked the Bioku-Alaadun area of Ibadan in Ona Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the incident occurred when a tanker was discharging gas into a retail shop, triggering a massive explosion that reportedly killed the shop owner and others in the vicinity.

Confirming the incident, the General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Yemi Akinyinka, said that emergency operatives were already on the scene working to contain the situation.

“Our men are there and they are still working. Yes, the incident happened. They were discharging gas, and there was an explosion. Information on the casualties is still being gathered,” he said.
