This meeting happened shortly after Aregbesola’s political group, Omoluabi Progressives, left the All Progressives Congress (APC). The group’s spokesperson, Abosede Oluwaseun, said they left due to being sidelined, unfair suspensions, and the disrespect shown to their structure.
A few days later, the APC in Osun expelled Aregbesola, accusing him of working against the party.
Aregbesola was Osun’s governor from 2010 to 2018 under the APC and later served as a minister in former President Muhammadu Buhari’s government from 2015 to 2023.
There is growing talk of a coalition to challenge the APC in the next election. Many opposition politicians have been meeting to discuss strategies.
