It also featured what appeared to be an AI-generated image of Jonathan shaking hands with former U.S. President Donald Trump, accompanied by music. The post has garnered significant attention online, amassing over 16,000 views, more than 1,200 comments, and hundreds of shares.
The post comes amid ongoing speculation about Jonathan’s potential return to the presidential race.
However, when contacted on Friday, the former president’s media aide, Ikechukwu Eze, dismissed the claims.
Eze said, “Former President Jonathan does not own an Instagram account.”
Since conceding defeat to President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015, Jonathan has been a frequent subject of political speculation, despite his consistent focus on promoting peace, democracy, and good governance in Nigeria and across Africa.
