The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it is yet to conclude the process of producing its final candidates for the 2027 general elections, citing ongoing reviews of petitions arising from its recent primary elections.
Speaking at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Thursday, Eko Hot Blog reports that APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, explained that reports submitted by appeal panels are still being examined by the party’s legal team and leadership.

According to him, the party will not forward any candidate names to the Independent National Electoral Commission until all complaints and appeals have been thoroughly considered.

His comments followed a protest by party stakeholders from the Niger South Senatorial District, who gathered at the APC headquarters to challenge the outcome of the district’s senatorial primary election.
The demonstrators claimed the exercise was flawed and demanded that the party organise a fresh contest. They alleged that the process lacked transparency and failed to give party members a fair opportunity to participate.
Representatives of the group accused election officials of announcing results before voting materials arrived at some designated centres.
They also questioned the venue where the results were declared, arguing that it differed from the traditional location used for such announcements in previous elections.
The protesters appealed to both the APC leadership and President Bola Tinubu to intervene and ensure justice for affected party members.
Responding to their concerns, Yilwatda noted that the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act provide clear procedures for addressing grievances arising from primary elections.

He stressed that candidates who participated in the primaries have the right to submit petitions through the appropriate channels.
He revealed that appeal committee reports from across the country are currently under review and assured party members that every valid complaint would receive attention.
The APC chairman urged dissatisfied aspirants to formally present their cases rather than rely on public protests, assuring them that due process would guide the party’s decisions.
He added that once the legal review is completed, the findings will be presented to the National Working Committee for final consideration before the official candidate list is released.
Yilwatda maintained that the process remains ongoing and reiterated the party’s commitment to ensuring fairness and compliance with its internal rules before announcing its candidates for the 2027 polls.
