Prominent traditional rulers and dignitaries, including the Olu Epe of Epe, Oba Shefiu Olatunji Adewale (Bamgbopa Eshinlokun 1), and Alara of Ilara, Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo (Telade IV) gathered at the Glover Memorial Hall in Lagos Island Marina on September 8, 2024, to honor the legacy of the legendary King Kosoko.
The event, which featured a memorial lecture themed “The Economy of Lagos in the Era of King Kosoko: A Tale of Prosperity and Decline”, attracted a notable presence of chieftains from Epe, as well as key figures such as Honourable Wale Raji and members of the Ogunmodede Club.
Attendees included the Olu Epe of Epe, Oba Shefiu Olatunji Adewale (Bamgbopa Eshinkolun 1), and his Olori, Olori Aribike Adewale, The Alara of Ilara Kingdom, Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo (Telade IV), Honourable Wale Raji, House of Representatives member representing Epe Federal Constituency, the Grand Chief Imam of Epe Division, Sheikh Abdulrahman Sadallah, Prof. Nosiru Onibon, and members of the Ogunmodede Club.
The Grand Chief Imam of Epe Division, Sheikh Sadallah, opened the event with an extensive prayer and graciously acknowledged the dignitaries present.
Emulate King Kosoko’s Precious Virtues – Alara of Ilara Charges Yoruba Indigenes
The Alara of Ilara, Oba Olukayode Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, has charged Yoruba indigenes to emulate King Kosoko’s precious virtues
Oba Olukayode gave this charge on Sunday at the just-concluded annual King Kosoko Memorial lecture held Lagos.
The monarch said the Yoruba race should emulate the chaste and eternally beneficial attributes of king Kosoko, to foster growth unity and continued progress in all Yoruba land.
The Alara of Ilara gave a moving anecdote at the conclusion of the King Kosoko Memorial Lecture themed: Lagos Economy in the Era of King Kosoko: A Tale of Prosperity and The Decline.
He lauded the Royal Household of King Kosoko for organizing such a delightful event, noting that, “It is of utmost importance that the tales, myth and legends of our ancestors are passed down from generation to generation, so as to preserve our unique heritage.”
Oba Olukayode further charged participant at the event to emulate the good virtues of King Kosoko which enabled him to surmount various life-threatening challenges and came out unscathed.

The member representing Epe Federal Constituency in the House of Representative, Honourable Wale Raji, has heaped high praise on the royal family of king Kosoko.
Hon. Wale Raji said King Kosoko’s legacy is a very precious and revered one in the history of Lagos, particularly among the indigenous people of Epe.
He stated this on Sunday in Lagos at the King Kosoko’s annual Memorial, a lecture organized in hounor of the late monarch.
In an interview with Eko Hot Blog, Hon. Wale Raji said King Kosoko came to seek refuge in a land called Epe.
“It is something worth celebrating, I congratulate the organizers for a job well done,” he said.

Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government, welcomed the Diocesan of Lagos Mainland, Rt. Rev. Dr. Ifedola Senasu Gabriel Okupevi, FICAT, during a courtesy visit to the Council Secretariat in Igando-Oloja on September 12, 2024.
The visit aimed to strengthen the relationship between the Church and the Local Government, and was marked by mutual respect and goodwill.

Epe Local Government Flags Off Akodu Street Construction Project
The Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun FHTI, has officially launched the construction of Akodu Street, off Adeyemi Apena Street, as part of her administration’s ongoing efforts to boost infrastructure and connectivity in the area.
Construction workers, along with heavy equipment, have already been mobilized to the site, with earthworks and drainage preparations underway.

Man Allegedly Claims Woman’s Android Phone at Charging Spot in Iraye, Epe
Ekohotblog reports that a man in Iraye Oke, Epe, has reportedly claimed a woman’s Android phone from a local commercial charging spot, leaving the owner in shock.
The incident occurs after the woman had left her phone at the spot to charge, only to discover later that someone else had taken it.
According to the phone’s owner, she had dropped off her Android phone for charging and was given a card tag to get back her phone once it was fully charged.
“I placed the tag in my bag and went home, assuming everything would be fine,” she explained.
Later in the day, the woman sent her daughter to the charging spot to collect the phone.
However, upon arrival, her daughter was informed that a man had already come in with the card tag and collected the phone.
Ibeju-Lekki Officials Inspect Creek for New Fish Market

The 7-month-old baby abducted from the Edu family compound in Bado Isale, Epe, Lagos, has been found in Iseyin, Oyo State.

The suspect, Barakat, was apprehended by police in Iseyin after several days of investigation. During interrogation, Barakat made an unexpected claim, alleging that Mistura was a surrogate mother for her and her husband.
According to Barakat, the baby was conceived using her egg and her husband’s sperm and was placed in Mistura’s womb to carry to term. Authorities are still investigating the veracity of this claim.
