The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, was warmly received at the Lagos State Model College, Agbowa, by the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, for the commencement of a three-day residential workshop aimed at empowering the boy-child for a brighter future.
Ekohotblog reports that the Lagos Boy-Child Initiative (LBCI) workshop, themed “Empowering the Boy-Child to Be a Well-Rounded Individual for the Future,” is a flagship program organized by the Office of the First Lady of Lagos State.

It runs from Monday, 17th to Wednesday, 19th February 2025, and is designed to address key developmental challenges affecting young boys, with a focus on education, personal growth, and societal integration.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Sanwo-Olu emphasized the urgent need to support and mentor young boys, ensuring they grow into responsible and well-rounded individuals.
“For too long, attention has been placed on the girl-child, and while that is commendable, we must not neglect the boy-child.
They face unique challenges that need to be addressed through education, mentorship, and guidance.
This initiative is about shaping the next generation of responsible men,” she stated.
The workshop features interactive sessions and activities, including:
Excursions to educational and historical sites
Cooking competitions to foster self-sufficiency and essential life skills
Sessions on drug abuse prevention, self-esteem, personal grooming, and mental health awareness
Welcoming the First Lady and participants, Hon. Anomo lauded the initiative, describing it as a transformative step towards addressing societal issues affecting young boys.
“This program is timely and necessary. The focus on the boy-child will help curb societal vices by providing them with the right mindset, skills, and mentorship to excel in life.
