The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has ramped up its efforts against environmental offenders by shutting down several establishments in Surulere, Lagos Mainland, Agege, and Kosofe.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the recent enforcement drive focused on curbing noise pollution and the unauthorized placement of gas refilling stations in residential areas both of which pose significant risks to public health and safety.

An X (formerly Twitter) post from LASEPA on Wednesday announced the crackdown. Dr Babatunde Ajayi, LASEPA’s General Manager, stressed the agency’s commitment to maintaining environmental standards.
He noted, “Environmental violations, such as excessive noise and the illegal installation of gas refilling plants in residential zones, endanger lives and disturb public peace. Our actions are aimed at restoring order and ensuring that all adhere to state environmental regulations. Those found in breach will face strict penalties.”
The sealed establishments include a mix of hotels, religious centers, a recycling facility, a pure water factory, and gas refilling stations. The list of affected businesses includes Home Guest House, Feel at Home, Pholar Suites, Oak Spring Hotel, 18Plus Hotel, Assemblies of God Church, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Anwarul Islam Movement, Chibuzor Gas, Dolax Gas, and Eco Fresh pure water factory.

Ajayi also warned that the enforcement operations would persist throughout the state, sending a clear message to all violators.
