According to police sources, the suspect was caught in the act during routine patrols aimed at protecting critical infrastructure across the state. A search at the scene led to the recovery of 20 reflective road studs in his possession.
Authorities explained that the road studs play a crucial role in guiding motorists, especially at night or during poor weather conditions. Their removal, they warned, could significantly increase the risk of accidents on the busy bridge.
Reacting to the incident, Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, reiterated the command’s zero-tolerance stance on vandalism.

He stressed that tampering with public infrastructure endangers lives and undermines safety efforts across the state.
The police also urged residents to stay alert and report suspicious activities, assuring that anyone found engaging in such acts would face prosecution in line with the law.
