Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, was on Saturday, November 22, 2025, conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree by the Rome Business School and its Nigerian campus, in recognition of his exceptional leadership, public sector reforms, and commitment to socio-economic development in Lagos State.

In his remarks while presenting the honour, the Founder of Rome Business School and Rome Business School Nigeria, Prof. Antonio Ragusa, praised Governor Sanwo-Olu’s visionary leadership and dedication to building a globally competitive Lagos.
He described the Governor as “a leader whose impact transcends local governance and reflects the values of excellence, innovation, and human development that our institution upholds.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu, in an emotional acceptance speech, expressed profound gratitude to the institution for the recognition.
He noted that the honorary doctorate represents a call to further service and a reminder of the responsibility entrusted to him by the people of Lagos.
“This honour is both humbling and inspiring,” he said.
“It reinforces our commitment to building a Lagos that works for all—one that nurtures talent, encourages enterprise, and creates opportunities for future leaders.”
The Governor commended Rome Business School Nigeria for its contribution to human capital development, particularly through strengthening business education, leadership training, and entrepreneurship among young professionals.
He applauded the graduands for their dedication and encouraged them to “carry the torch of innovation, integrity, and excellence as they step into new opportunities.”
The event drew prominent dignitaries, including the Consul General of Italy in Lagos, Ambassador Ugo Boni, and the Chairman of Airtel Africa Foundation, Mr. Olusegun Ogunsanya, who commended the Rome Business School Nigeria for its expanding footprint in shaping global-minded professionals in Nigeria.
Graduands were celebrated for their resilience and academic achievements, with faculty members and guests reaffirming the institution’s commitment to producing ethical and transformational leaders who will contribute to Nigeria’s growth.
