The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has hosted Nigerian-American philanthropist Krystal Chanchangi and her daughter, Kleopatra, a young diaspora ambassador, at its headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the visit was part of NiDCOM’s ongoing efforts to foster stronger connections with Nigerians living abroad in preparation for the National Diaspora Day celebrations scheduled for July 25–26, 2025.

Speaking on behalf of NiDCOM’s Chairman/CEO, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Commission’s Secretary, Sule Yakubu Bassi, emphasised the five major contributions of the Nigerian diaspora: resources, talents, skills, global exposure, and networks.
The National Diaspora Day event is expected to host 1,000 in-person attendees and 10,000 virtual participants from around the world.
Bassi also stressed the substantial impact of Nigerian diaspora members on the national economy, with annual remittances exceeding $20 billion.

By 2025, foreign exchange remittance flows into Nigeria are projected to reach approximately $26 billion, driven by improving economic conditions in advanced economies, according to Pan-African credit rating agency Agusto & Co.
“The Commission remains committed to connecting diaspora talents and investments to local economies and government programmes across all levels,” Bassi said.
Krystal Chanchangi expressed her appreciation for the warm welcome and the opportunity to participate in the upcoming National Diaspora Day.
She described the invitation as an honor and a call to action, Chanchangi underscored the importance of the event as a unifying platform for Nigerians worldwide to reconnect with their roots and contribute to national development.
Furthermore , she shared details of her upcoming Soccer Charity Event in collaboration with celebrated footballer Jude Ighalo scheduled for June 22, 2025, at 2 pm at the National Stadium in Abuja.
Emphasizing that making an impact does not require immense wealth, Chanchangi’s passion for driving positive change in Nigeria through philanthropy and community engagement is an inspiration to diaspora members and Nigerians at home alike
“Every diaspora member can contribute meaningfully in their field, whether in education, hospitality, engineering, or the creative industries. I believe in using the resources God has given me to help people prosper,” she said.
Kleopatra, her daughter, also shared her excitement about being in Nigeria and expressed her interest in participating in the National Diaspora Day celebrations through cultural dance.
The meeting ended with a strong call to nurture patriotism and cultural pride among younger generations of Nigerians living abroad.
