According to a statement from the Ministry of Transportation, the first four phases will focus on the inbound Alapere lane and will run from June 28 to August 16. The next four phases will address the inbound Oworonshoki side, beginning immediately after, from August 16 to October 5.
To manage anticipated traffic congestion, the government has provided alternative routes for motorists. During Phase One, vehicles traveling from Iyana Oworo are advised to divert through Gbagada and then connect to Anthony before rejoining Ikorodu Road.

Only one lane will be accessible in the work zone during this phase, with a 50 metre section blocked off before and after the active construction area.
In Phase Two, motorists approaching from Eko Bridge are advised to use Funsho Williams Avenue to link up with Ikorodu Road.
Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, confirmed that traffic officers from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be deployed to the affected zones to direct vehicles and ease congestion.
“This is a necessary step to maintain the bridge’s structural integrity. We understand the inconvenience, and we are working to ensure minimal disruption,” Osiyemi said.
The Lagos State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, through its Office of Infrastructure, will oversee the project, with specific attention given to the bridge’s expansion joints.
Motorists are urged to plan their journeys ahead and exercise patience throughout the maintenance period.
