The entire Epe Division is in mourning following the passing of a prominent religious and community leader, Chief Alhaji AbdWahab Oladipupo Amuni, who died at the age of 91.
Ekohotblog reports that known for his deep-rooted faith, community service, and wisdom, the late elder was the Alakoso Adeen of the 1st Epe Central Mosque, Oke-Balogun, and the Mogaji (head) of the prestigious Amuni family.

His burial took place on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. The body departed from his Marina residence to the 1st Epe Central Mosque, Oke-Balogun, for Janazah prayers .
He was later laid to rest at Hon. Sanni Street, Iraye, Epe, accompanied by a solemn procession of family members, Islamic clerics, community leaders, and sympathizers.
Architect Abiola Anifowoshe, a respected community voice, shared a moving tribute during the funeral.
“The whole Epe Division has lost a man that is irreplaceable. But who are we when God is the giver and taker of life? We came from Him and to Him shall we return. Baba was a man with a big heart.
In the entire community, once you went to him with a problem, he solved it with a lasting solution. I pray Almighty Allah grants him Aljannah Firdaus.”
Among the numerous tributes pouring in, Alhaji Olamide Aare, a close associate and mentee of the late elder, also reflected on his life and influence.
“Alhaji Amuni was more than a religious figure; he was a father to everyone.
His wisdom was unmatched. Whenever we faced communal issues or family challenges, Baba’s word brought peace.
His contributions to Islam, the development of Epe, and to humanity at large will never be forgotten. Baba lived a fulfilled life, and we thank Allah for the gift of his existence.”
Also speaking on behalf of the family, a representative of the Com Amuni Fund described Baba’s multifaceted leadership.
“Alhaji Abdulwahab Amuni was a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
As Mogaji of the Amuni family, he led us with wisdom and compassion, both spiritually and morally.
Religiously, Baba served as the Alakoso Adeen of Epe Central Mosque, Oke-Balogun. Politically, he was a genius ,a leader and mentor.
His contributions to the development of Epe Division are enormous and unforgettable.”
Baba was known for his faith, his open-door policy for the young and old, and his ability to mediate conflicts with calm authority.
His home in Marina was a sanctuary of counsel and comfort, where many sought guidance and left with hope.
Community youth leader Abdul-Lateef Osho, who benefited from Baba’s mentorship, shared how he consistently empowered the youth.
