Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement released by its management on Sunday, NIPOST clarified that it never made such a claim.

The clarification follows a report from an online media outlet alleging that NIPOST indicated an increase in drug trafficking activities during Tinubu’s tenure.
NIPOST, however, described the circulating report as false and misleading.
The agency urged the public to disregard the misinformation, emphasizing its dedication to national security and public trust.
“The attention of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has been drawn to a recent publication by Peoples Gazette titled:
‘Nigerian courier services have been easily transporting hard drugs since Tinubu became president, NIPOST.’

NIPOST expressed disappointment over the misleading headline, stating that it falsely attributed the allegations to the agency and gave the wrong impression that NIPOST had confirmed or supported such claims. The agency firmly declared that this is entirely untrue.
“At no point has NIPOST made such a statement or associated these activities with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
While we respect the role of the media in promoting accountability, the dissemination of sensational and inaccurate information, particularly in matters of national security, risks eroding public trust and undermining the collaborative work being done to sanitise the courier and logistics sector.”
