Experts call for urgent steps to ease naira pressure and improve access.
The Nigerian naira remained under pressure on Thursday, July 10, 2025, as the foreign exchange market witnessed continued disparities between the official and parallel market rates.
Despite various interventions by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the naira has struggled to gain ground against the US dollar, especially in the black market where demand continues to outpace supply. Market analysts say forex liquidity remains tight, contributing to the naira’s sluggish performance even after recent policy measures.

Dollar to Naira Exchange Rate – July 10, 2025
| Market Segment | Buying Rate (₦) | Selling Rate (₦) |
|---|---|---|
| Official (CBN/NAFEM) | ₦1,532.15 | — |
| Black Market (Aboki FX) | ₦1,555 | ₦1,555 |
At the official market, the naira traded at ₦1,532.15 to the dollar, according to data from the NAFEM window. However, in the black market, the exchange rate stood at ₦1,555, unchanged from the previous day.
Experts warn that if the FX gap persists, it could weaken investor confidence and further fuel inflationary pressure in the country. Many businesses and individuals continue to rely on the parallel market for transactions due to restricted access to dollars via official channels.

The CBN has yet to announce any fresh intervention to stabilise the naira, but stakeholders are urging swift reforms to close the gap and ease pressure on the currency.
