According to the statement, the suspects will be brought before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court, Abuja, following what the government described as a thorough investigation carried out through collaboration among relevant security and intelligence agencies.
The Office of the AGF assured Nigerians that justice would be served, stressing that the prosecution is intended to send a strong message to individuals or groups threatening national peace and security under any guise.
“The Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice wishes to assure Nigerians that justice will be ensured in this matter, to send a strong signal to enemies of the country,” the statement read.
The statement, signed by the media aide to the AGF, Mr. Kamarudeen Ogundele, reaffirmed the commitment of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration to the protection of lives and property, in line with constitutional provisions.
The Yelwata killings, which occurred in June 2025, affected the Yelwata community in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

The violence reportedly began late on June 13 and continued into the early hours of June 14, when suspected armed attackers launched coordinated assaults on homes, a local market, and a Catholic mission.
Reports indicate that over 100 people were killed, while about 3,000 residents were displaced as a result of the attacks.
President Tinubu had earlier condemned the incident and directed security and law enforcement agencies to ensure that those responsible were tracked down and prosecuted.
