Tinubu had been in Lagos following his recent trip to the United Kingdom, where he held talks aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic, economic, and security ties. His return also coincided with the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, which he observed with Muslim faithful.
While in Lagos, the President joined Eid prayers at Dodan Barracks, a place closely tied to his political history as a former governor of the state.

But beyond the festivities, it was far from a quiet visit.
Behind the scenes, Tinubu held a series of strategic meetings with key political and economic figures. No fewer than 23 governors reportedly met with him at different times, including Biodun Oyebanji, in discussions seen as part of ongoing political alignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
He also received prominent visitors such as business mogul Aliko Dangote, representatives of the European Union, and members of the Lagos Governance Advisory Council, a key political structure within the ruling party in the state.
Vice President Kashim Shettima was also in Lagos during the period, briefing the President on security developments in Borno State, particularly following a recent suicide bombing incident. The meeting underscored ongoing concerns around security in the North-East.
As Tinubu departed Lagos, he was seen off by several top figures, including Dapo Abiodun, former governor Olusegun Osoba, and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu alongside his deputy.
With his return to Abuja, attention now shifts back to governance, as the administration continues to deal with economic reforms, security challenges, and the political calculations shaping the road to 2027.
